Sustainable Tourism Law, nova publicação internacional da ESHTE
Tendo lançado no ano anterior, no Teatro da Trindade, The New Package Travel Directive, com 600 páginas, em língua inglesa, a ESHTE volta a publicar outra obra internacional, em parceria com a fundação INATEL, com 832 páginas, desta vez relativa aos instrumentos legislativos referentes ao turismo sustentável.
A publicação tem também a chancela da Entidade Regional de Turismo do Alentejo, pela circunstância de, em 2017 ter decorrido em Évora, o segundo dia da conferência internacional sobre a temática, a qual constituiu um “Event on the Celebrations Map and Calendar, as well as in the Report of the International Year to the United Nations General Assembly”do Ano Internacional do Turismo Sustentável.
O lançamento teve lugar na tarde no passado dia 9 de Outubro, no Cascais Visitor Center e foi presidido por Carlos Carreiras, presidente da Câmara Municipal de Cascais, que destacou a importância destes eventos internacionais para a região e para o país.
Para além de Carlos Carreiras, intervieram Raúl Filipe, presidente da Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril, e José Alho, membro da direcção do INATEL, bem como Carlos Torres, organizador da publicação e da conferência.
No prefácio Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretário-Geral da Organização Mundial do Turismo (OMT), refere que o livro “descreve a base legal através da qual políticas e práticas de turismo sustentável podem ser implementadas dentro e fora de Portugal. Apresenta textos académicos fundamentais, vários dos quais provenientes daconferência sobre Sustainable Tourism Law que decorreu no Estoril, Lisboae Évora em 9-10 de outubro de 2017, como parte das comemorações do Ano Internacional do Turismo Sustentável para o Desenvolvimento.” Destaca ainda que “Governos de todo o mundo continuam a adotar nova legislação em apoio ao turismo sustentável e competitivo, à redução da pobreza por meio do turismo, à proteção da biodiversidade e do património cultural e ao desenvolvimento da comunidade. Em conjunto, os legisladores vêm cada vez mais o turismo como um setor prioritário para promover o desenvolvimento económico inclusivo e a diversificação, além de criar meios de subsistência sustentáveis. Espero que este livro, que expande o crescente corpo de conhecimentos sobre legislação de turismo sustentável em políticas e práticas, contribua para tornar este setor em rápido crescimento um catalisador para o crescimento inclusivo e sustentável e para a realização da Agenda 2030.”
Além do secretário-geral da OMT, que prefacia, a obra conta ainda com contributos especiais de personalidades como a secretária de Estado do Turismo, Ana Mendes Godinho, da secretária Regional da Energia, Ambiente e Turismo dos Açores, Marta Guerreiro, Raúl Filipe, presidente da ESTHE, José Manuel Alho, da direcção da Fundação Inatel, e António Ceia da Silva, presidente da Entidade Regional de Turismo do Alentejo e Ribatejo.
