Madeira Specialist Project

ESHTE, in partnership with APAVT and APMadeira, has developed the "Madeira Specialist" training project, which aims to train tourism professionals, equipping them with the skills and know-how to work with the Madeira tourist destination.
As part of their mission, tourism professionals need to acquire sales, promotion and know-how skills for the tourist destinations in which they operate. This project consists of implementing and disseminating a training programme using a distance learning methodology (e-learning) and an attractive "gamified" platform on the Madeira destination. The aim is also to assess and certify the level of knowledge assimilated by each tourism professional, certifying them as "Madeira Specialist".
The training programme is based on a general course, Destination Madeira, and three more specific courses: Nature, Sea and Lifestyle. Less formally, a series of mini specialisations are also available, which are quicker to complete and less formal (without assessment/certification).
In the first year of dissemination of the training, the results exceeded the best expectations: 885 trainees (from 247 tourism companies) enrolled.
