Where is MIACC?

On April 17th and 18th, students from the Masters in Innovation in Culinary Arts and Sciences (MIACC) they have embarked on a unique journey of preparation for their project “Gastronomic Experience”, this year inspired by the journalistic work of writer Angela Carter and her writings about the ceramics of Caldas da Rainha. This study visit was organized in the context of the curricular units "Use, Innovation, Design and Development of Food Products" and "Architectural Design of Environments, Menus and Dishes" and provided students with a practical and enriching immersion.

On the first day, participants were guided through a series of stimulating experiences in Ílhavo and Aveiro, exploring various iconic locations. The visit to the Vista Alegre factory offered the students a privileged view behind the scenes of porcelain production, while the visit to the VA Hotelware showroom allowed them to observe up close the union between functionality and elegance in the design of various utensils. The Vista Alegre Museum revealed the historical secrets behind the brand, while the visit to FabriDoce added a sweet touch to the journey. The day culminated at the Sal Poente restaurant, where students were able to discover the region's culinary excellence.
On the second day, the journey took the group to the pleasant city of Caldas da Rainha, known for its tradition in ceramics manufacturing. The visit to the Bordallo Pinheiro factory and the Casa Museu S. Rafael - Museu da Cerâmica, appeal to creativity, opening up new perspectives for this project as well as for their future careers. MIACC continues to promote innovative experiences that prepare students to face the challenges of the contemporary culinary world with skill and passion.
