MIACC organizes gastronomic event “Imagery Reflecting Experience”

On June 28, Casa de Santa Maria in Cascais hosted the "Imagery Reflecting Experience" gastronomic event. Organized by the master's course in Innovation and Culinary Arts and Sciences (MIACC) at the Estoril School of Hospitality and Tourism, the event was sponsored by Cascais Town Council, Imppacto Catering and Events, Koppert Cress, Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro.

This year, the event was inspired by the reading and interpretation of texts by British journalist and writer Angela Carter. In 1977, the writer visited Caldas da Rainha during the IV Encontros de Arte em Portugal, writing two journalistic articles in which she reflected on the post-revolution country, addressing aspects of identity such as ceramics and the cultural issues of the time.

In the year that marks the 200th anniversary of the Vista Alegre brand and in partnership with Bordallo Pinheiro, this event transcended a simple dinner, becoming a gastronomic performance that integrated gastronomy and culture, fusing cuisine and art. Angela Carter's reactions inspired every moment of the experience, the reality of the country at the time and the famous ceramics from Caldas da Rainha.

The MIACC students, Daniel Venâncio, Diogo Alves, José Francisco Santos, José Pedro Santos, Lívia Alfenas, Matilde Vieira and Tomás Rosa, who took part in this dinner, were coordinated by Chef Rui Mota, who also worked with MIACC professor Chef Fábio Abreu, under the executive direction of the coordinator of this master's degree, Professor Maria José Pires.
