On April 2, students of the Master's in Food Safety and Quality in Catering (MSQAR), accompanied by professors José Pestana and Nelson Félix, visited the manufacturing facilities of UCAL, a company belonging to the Lactalis group, a world leader in the dairy sector.

The visit is part of a collaboration protocol recently established between the ESHTE Research, Development and Innovation Center (CIDI) and the Lactalis group. This agreement provides for, among other initiatives, study visits, challenges related to the development of food products and future partnerships of an academic and scientific nature.

In the current semester, students in the New Product Design and Development course, taught by Professor Rafael Santos, develop innovation projects using raw materials supplied by Lactalis. The activity began with an institutional presentation of the Lactalis group and its product portfolio, both national and international. This was followed by a guided tour of the UCAL manufacturing facilities and, at the end, there was a tasting session.

This initiative contributed to strengthening students' technical knowledge and could inspire the creation of new products in an academic context.
