Between September 29 and October 3, 2025, the President of ESHTE, Professor Carlos Brandão, and the Vice-President, Professor João Reis, traveled to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, at the invitation of the Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (INHAC) and the Artisanal Cheese Reference Center (CRQA). The goal was to deepen contacts and establish strategic partnerships in the areas of hospitality, tourism, and gastronomy training.
During the visit, the delegation met with officials from INHAC and CRQA, leading institutions in the promotion of gastronomy and regional products, and visited spaces designated for future new facilities for these institutions, exploring opportunities for academic and scientific cooperation.
The agenda also included a meeting with the Rector of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Professor Sandra Almeida, during which lines of future collaboration were defined within the scope of a strategic cooperation network between INHAC, CRQA, UFMG, and ESHTE, aimed at developing significant projects in training and education in Hospitality, Tourism, and Gastronomy, promoting research, innovation, and professional development.
This mission resulted in concrete collaborative projects, with ESHTE participating in the implementation of a Hotel School, the creation of undergraduate programs in Hospitality and Tourism, and the design of a Center of Excellence in Gastronomy, dedicated to promoting regional culinary identities.
This visit reinforces ESHTE's commitment to internationalization and Lusophone cooperation, consolidating its presence in the Portuguese-speaking academic and scientific space and strengthening knowledge, training, and research networks in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy.
