PROJECTS IN PROGRESS

The SHIFT research project is led by the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS), with the participation of the Estoril School of Hospitality and Tourism (ESHTE), the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (School of Social Communication) and the University of Algarve (School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism), with funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).  The partners are CiTUR - Center for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism and Turismo de Portugal. The SHIFT project's principal investigator is Teresa Costa, coordinating professor at the IPS (School of Business Sciences), and co-principal investigator Maria de Lurdes Calisto, assistant professor at ESHTE.

The SHIFT project - A sustainability-oriented, Highly interactive, and Innovation-based Framework for Tourism Marketing, which has been running since January 2022, aims to "bring a new interdisciplinary approach to the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector, developing and validating a new theoretical framework to explain how tourism can reinvent itself collaboratively in a post-pandemic world".

This project aims to produce a "sustainability-oriented, interactive, and innovative digital-based tourism marketing framework that will leverage the transformation that tourism urgently needs". The project also includes empirical validation of the theoretical models to be developed and a prototype of a collaborative digital marketing platform to support tourism agents in this transition process.

National funds finance this project through FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under the PTDC/EGE-OGE/2146/2021 project.
