General Information

Cost of living
The cost of living is slightly lower than in the capital, but perfectly affordable for any student working full or part-time.

Accommodation
Although there is no student residence on campus, there is a service called "Accommodation Announcements" (exchange of accommodation information), where students can find rooms or houses at various prices, as well as information from other students who want to find roommates.

Meals

There is 1 canteen and 2 bars. If bought in advance, the ticket for each meal costs 2.40 euros.

On level -2 there is a bar where students can get a full meal for less than 5 euros, lunch or dinner, or even a snack during the day.

Access to health services
In order to provide all ESHTE students with conditions that safeguard their physical and psychological well-being, an agreement was signed between ESHTE's NAS and Cascais City Council's S Service. Espaço S is a free and confidential health, sexuality and psychology service for young people aged 10 to 30.

Students with Special Needs
There is a lift for students with reduced mobility inside the school's main building. We are currently working to improve accessibility for these students.

Insurance
Students are covered by personal accident insurance, which covers all personal injuries, as well as the civil liability of the student or whoever is civilly responsible for him/her.

Financial support for students
Scholarships are intended for students in financial need. Scholarships are awarded to students from economically disadvantaged families who are unable to meet the costs of higher education.
The student must apply for support every year. There are several factors that affect eligibility for financial aid. For example, a student who didn't get financial aid one year may become eligible the next year when a brother or sister enrolls in college. A change in family financial situation can affect students' eligibility for financial aid.

Academic Services
Academic Services is a department that is open to the public, i.e. it has opening hours, administration, management and learning support areas. Its mission is to handle information processing for all courses and students.
In order to simplify learning outcomes and student queries, there is an electronic platform with all the information for each student, which they can access via a secure web page.

Learning Resources
The various existing partnerships with local organisations provide for the sustainable development of specific practical activities.
A wide range of resources and local organisations are available that are active in the strategic areas of each course.
An extensive network of partners (more than 500) is available for compulsory curricular internships.
There are business partnerships that enable the development of curricular activities and joint projects.
Material resources are available that allow the courses to be autonomous in terms of equipment for practising various activities.
The quality of the facilities means that all classrooms have computer and audiovisual equipment available.

Quality resources (library and resource centre).
Existence of the only WTO depository library, with online access to information, studies, documents, etc.

International Programmes
In addition to the Lifelong Learning Programmes, based on the mobility of students and staff, there is a concern to establish international partnerships with African and Eastern countries, as well as Brazil, on a sustained basis, as this is an opportunity for personal and scientific growth.

Practical Information for Mobility Students
In the context of mobility programmes, through its International Relations and Mobility Office, ESHTE stimulates demand and expands its network of partnerships, so that mobility becomes more appealing to the academic community.
Within the framework of the Erasmus programme, there are appropriate mechanisms that encourage and guarantee the recognition of credits, skills and mobility experiences.
In addition, and within the philosophy of the Erasmus Programme, ESHTE has developed internal rules that establish protocol procedures to facilitate the process of crediting and recognising competences for all mobility participants.
In the context of international cooperation and mobility agreements, student exchanges are established in accordance with the guidelines of the various academic partners, the conditions governing mobility and the mutual recognition of credits and competences.

Internships - Professional and Business Support Office

This Office is responsible for collaborating in finding curricular internships for ESHTE students.

The Internships Office is organised by the Scientific Areas Coordinator, the Technical Coordinator and two employees responsible for managing the processes.

Sports and Leisure
Although there are no sports and leisure facilities on campus, ESHTE is located close to the beaches of the Estoril Coast, where water sports can be practised, and there are several agreements with sports facilities where different activities can be practised. There is also a promenade along the beaches, stretching from Cascais to Oeiras.

Students' Association
There is a student association that promotes academic life and student integration.
The Student Ombudsman works in conjunction with the student association and ESHTE's services and departments. It receives and analyses student complaints and grievances and makes relevant recommendations to the school's bodies, departments and functional units. It makes general recommendations in order to protect students' interests, among other things. The Student Ombudsman has his own office, where he can meet with a student individually or in a group.
