Social Services

This department provides support to economically disadvantaged students and those living far away from their homes and families. This support is provided in direct (scholarships to students in Technological Specialisation Courses, Undergraduate Degrees and Masters Degrees; emergency aid and other social support) and indirect ways (access to health care and meals, access to an accommodation database and to financial support for accommodation).

Direct Social Support

ESHTE's social services provides direct support to economically and socially disadvantaged students through scholarships, emergency aid and other forms of social support such as additional bursaries for transport to students from Madeira and the Azores, thus preventing school leaving which is due to students' financial condition.

Indirect Social Support

ESHTE's social services provides indirect support to students in their access to health care, meals and cultural and sports activities.

Health Care

To support ESHTE's students in their physical and psychological health and well-being and ensure their access to health care, ESHTE has established an agreement with SAS-UTL that allows ESHTE's students to schedule medical appointments and have access to other health services at reduced prices. Medical specialities available include general medicine, ophthalmology, gynecology and psychology.
