Objectives

 

- Provide basic notions associated with binomial tourism and literature.

 

- Interpret and critically reflect on the concept of literary tourism, discussing how this can be articulated with the different types of surrounding territories, namely imaginary ones.

 

- Reflect on strategies that aim to explore both present resources and the endogenous potential of the identity territories that host them, especially in the context of literary production.

 

- Develop theoretical and technological skills in the field of local development driven by cultural tourism, in general, and literary tourism, in particular.

 

- Contact with successful experiences in the field of literary tourism and promote critical evaluations.

 

- Deepen techniques and tools in the literary area of tourism, namely those that connect literary itineraries production to a conception of event development and to musealization of literary patrimonial sites.

 

- Promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of literary tourism.

 

 

Target-Audience

 

The following may apply for the course:

 

- Holders of a bachelor's degree, or its legal equivalent, in any area of ​​knowledge, obtained in Portuguese or foreign Higher Education Institutions.

 

- Holders of relevant professional experience who wish to develop knowledge and skills within the scope of literary tourism.

 

 

Career Opportunities

 

- Local Authorities, in the fields of culture, namely cultural promotion departments and libraries;

 

- Strategic and operational management organizations of tourist destinations;

 

- Tourist Entertainment Companies;

 

- Promotion of other business projects in the field of cultural and creative industries;

The postgraduate course in Literary Tourism is articulated, in the academic year 2023-2024, with the following:

 

- II Jornadas Internacionais sobre Metodologias para a Literatura e Turismo e para o Turismo Literário, organized by Lit&Tour (CIAC/Universidade do Algarve), with the support from the ESHTE and Câmara Municipal de Loulé that will take place on October 13, 2023, at Banhos Islâmicos de Loulé;

 

- Jornadas de Turismo Literário - “O turismo literário nas paisagens de Aquilino” - organized by Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril and Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território (Universidade de Lisboa), to be held on October 20, 2023, at ESHTE auditorium. This event is an integral part of the program commemorating the 60th anniversary of Aquilino Ribeiro's death.

 

Schedule 2023/2024 (School Calendar)

 

Hybrid regime: first semester: Saturday (in person, at ESHTE, with the possibility of remote monitoring) 9 am to 12:50 am and 2 pm to 5:50 pm / Thursday (remote monitoring) 6 pm to 7:50 pm;

 

Hybrid regime: second semester- Saturday (in person, at ESHTE, with the possibility of remote monitoring) 9 am to 12:50 am and 2 pm to 5:50 pm / Thursday (remote monitoring) 6 pm to 7:50 pm;

 

The Field Lab Curricular Unit presupposes study visits, on dates to be agreed, through the following literary territories: Casa Grande de Romarigães (Paredes de Coura), Terras do Demo, Rota presencista no Alto Alentejo (Portalegre, Marvão e Castelo de Vide) e Rota Literária do Algarve. These visits will be partially financed by ESHTE.

Application process: 

 

To complete the application process, which takes place exclusively online, the candidate must access the Applications Portal. It is necessary to access the Guide for Applicants and follow precisely the examples provided (documents can only be up to 1MB).

 

Application fee | 75 €

 

The application fee will only be returned if the course does not open. For this purpose, the candidate must keep the respective receipt. Applications will only be considered valid if payment is made within the deadline.

 

Errors or omissions made in filling in the online application form or the application process’s instructions are the sole responsibility of the candidate.

  • Letter of motivation with a maximum of 500 words (mandatory)
  • Letter of recommendation (optional).

Holders of a foreign higher academic degree must present the certificate/diploma with the Hague apostille.

Ranking criteria

 

The ranking criteria will be applied only if the number of candidates exceeds the defined numerus clausus.

 

Applications will be assessed by the Course Coordination, which will decide on the situation of each interested party, defining the corresponding accreditations and study plans.

 

 

On the other hand, the candidates will be selected by the Scientific and Executive Committee of the Post-Graduation in Literary Tourism, based on the following criteria:

 

I) Classification obtained in the bachelor's degree or in Postgraduate courses, Advanced Training, or equivalent;

 

II)Curriculum Vitae namely academic, scientific, and technical

 

III) Letter of motivation with the statement of objectives;

 

IV)Result of individual interview, when deemed necessary by the Scientific and Executive Committee Post-Graduation in Literary Tourism.

 

Preference will be given to former students of undergraduate courses and Postgraduate courses, Advanced Training (or equivalent) at ESHTE, and employees of companies or public bodies with more than 2 years of professional experience, up to a limit of 30% of available vacancies.
