ESHTE at the Jornadas Nacionais dos Guias de Portugal / FEG2019

Under the aegis of the European Federation of Tourist Guides (FEG), Faro hosted FEG2019, the annual congress that gathered hundreds of official Tourist Guides and Couriers in Portugal. Simultaneoulsy, Sindicato Nacional da Actividade Turística, Tradutores e Intérpretes (SNATTI) organised the 1st meeting entitled Jornadas Nacionais de Guias de Portugal, and both iniciatives were supported and attended by several professionals trained at ESHTE.

The programme of both events combined scientific presentations, guided tours, alongside the exchange of experience and ideas considering contemporary challenges. Besides betting on the continuous updating of data usually conducted druing the low tourist season, Tourism Information professionals took the change to increase and update their knowledge prior to the following high season.

ESHTE’s Tourism Information course director was invited by SNATTI to conduct a seminar entitled Fausto Figueiredo & The 1930s Estoril’s Principality. Scientific sessions and guided tours were also accompanied by Carla Braga, another ESHTE’s teacher, Tourist Guide and Courier.

These journeys southwards permitted the reinforcement of professional bonds and the meeting of some of ESHTE’s Tourism Information Alumni. Their success in the labour market is a reflection of the excellence of their training at Estoril, which was also attested by the praises of their European peers.
